Hope, Recovery & Support Across West Virginia

The Hope Dealer Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit recovery advocacy organization headquartered in Martinsburg, West Virginia. For nearly a decade, we have worked alongside individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use—connecting people to resources, breaking stigma, and reminding those struggling that recovery is possible and no one has to face it alone.

We provide direct support to individuals and families navigating addiction and recovery, including detox and treatment placement, sober living placement, transportation assistance, clothing and hygiene support, court and reentry advocacy, and connections to community resources. We also provide burial and cremation assistance following overdose loss and lead education, awareness, and stigma-reduction initiatives throughout our communities.

What began as grassroots work in the Eastern Panhandle has grown into a statewide movement. Through our flagship initiative, West Virginia Goes Purple, The Hope Dealer Project has united communities across all 55 West Virginia counties in support of National Recovery Month—bringing together residents, businesses, organizations, treatment providers, and local leaders around prevention, recovery, remembrance, and hope.

We proudly honor the foundational contributions of former co-founders Lisa Melcher and Tina Stride, whose dedication and compassion helped lay the groundwork for The Hope Dealer Project and the mission we continue today.
